IPC-7711 & IPC-7721 CERTIFIED IPC TRAINER (CIT) TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Rework…Repair…and Remain Competitive - A Hands-on Approach to the Restoration of Electronic Assemblies
 
STI Electronics Inc. is offering this Train-the-trainer program teaching industry-approved techniques on through hole and surface mount rework, land, conductor and laminate repair. It also provides a flexible, highly skills-oriented training program with teaching materials that enable a qualified representative from your company to train operators on a variety of procedures from the IPC-7711 Rework of Electronic Assemblies and the IPC-7721 Repair and Modification of Printed Boards and Electronic Assemblies.

Who Should Attend?
 
There are no formal entrance requirements; however, instructor candidates must have excellent hand soldering skills. Training, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Supervisors with considerable experience in teaching and in assembly rework procedures are strongly encouraged to receive this certification.
 
What does the training cover?

The CIT training program covers 40 hours of intensive, hands-on instruction in commonly used rework and repair techniques.
 

Training Topics Include:
   
•    Product classifications, skill levels, tools and materials
•    Basic surface mount and through hole component removal
•    Land preparation and component installation
•    Primary heating methods: conductive, convective, etc.
•    Handling electronic assemblies
•    Wire splicing procedures
•    Through hole component removal and installation
•    Chip and MELF procedures
•    Gull Wing Components (SOIC/SOT/QFP) and J-lead rework
•    Printed wiring board circuit and laminate repair
•    Conformal coating removal

What materials are Included?

•    A copy of both the IPC-7711 Rework of Electronic Assemblies and the IPC-7721 Repair and Modification of Printed Boards and Electronic Assemblies
•    Equipment list, parts list and artwork for test/practice kits
•    Certified IPC Application Specialist (CIS) training instructor guide
•    Full set of color visuals on CD-ROM
•    Open book classroom examinations on Module One ("Common Procedures")
•    An IPC Certificate of Completion
•    CIS course report forms, evaluations, and workmanship grading criteria and scoring forms
 
Upon completion of the IPC-7711/7721 CIT course, Instructors are certified for two years.   At that time Instructors will need to attend a recertification course to maintain CIT certification for the  IPC-7711/21 program.
